@Dl9989 You're acting like I'm saying they should get married or date forever or something. But going on a date with someone, as page 3 put it, "to get to know him better," is a really casual thing to do. As such, casual reasons like "he's good looking," or "he seems chill," etc. are more than sufficient. But as I've said multiple times now, I'm aware Hiura really likes Midou, and Akito doesn't have a chance. I'm mostly just frustrated that no one in this manga is taking any sort of initiative. I'm aware coming out as gay is difficult, especially in high school. And I'm sympathetic to Hiura's and Midou's struggle being open about it. But endlessly pining over your friend isn't healthy either, and I want someone to break their current stalemate.

The problem isn't that Akito 'wanted to get to know Hiura.' The problem is that Akito basically strong armed Hiura into accepting the invitation. If Hiura declined, the crowd surrounding them would think HE was the asshole for turning down a 'polite invitation,' when the reality of it is Akito is just a fuckboy taking advantage of the situation. It's why Midou's blonde(?) friend (whatever the hell his name is) said Akito was 'slick.' Akito doesn't give a shit about Hiura for anything besides his looks, and you don't need to go on a 'date' to 'get to know someone.' If you wanted to 'get to know someone,' you don't need to isolate them.
Even in the incredibly unlikely case where Akito isn't actively trying to be a sleazy loser about it, if you notice mid-conversation that the person you're interacting with is hesitant to accept your invitation, you should at the very least suggest a change of plans. "If you aren't comfortable with going on a date, why don't you invite a friend to come along?" or "maybe we can just hang out some time at school."
I haven't even read the chapters where Miura goes on the date, but I can almost guarantee Akito is going to do some rapey shit during it, and Midou is going to jump in to stop it. The tropes are already setting it up to be something like that.
