@Eldwin: (Almost a year later)
So the drama is that the big name manga (One Piece, My Hero Academia, One Punch Man, etc.) sent out a cease and desist to MangaDex to prevent scanlations of their pages on the site since some have ripped from the official sources; a big no-no for ANY scanlation. MangaDex devs didn't want to step on any toes so they locked out all scanlation posts until further notice (ie, never). MangaDex also has a partnership with MangaPlus that lets you read the 1st 3 and last 3 chapters of these manga but you have to pay a sub to read the rest.
The drama is some scanlators didn't know at the time which manga were also affected or not. It's pretty much established now that anything from Viz Media are the "untouchables" and a lot of people are mad about it. Mainly because the right scanlators don't translate word for word what the official translations are and are more accurate (due to coarser language, like "fuck it" over "never mind"). But MD can't risk litigation, so...here we are.
