It is mentioned that she had a lot of "friends" but you can also tell a little that those said friends are only people she deems worthy of her precious time or fans of her popularity that cater to her ego. He also remembers what she was called during that time by everyone in school which is "The Arrogant Bitch"(she was actually called The Arrogant Queen but bitch has the same meaning in this context and I think it fits her better). They actually skipped a few elements that make her seem worse in the light novel but I'll only stick to the matter at hand. Bear in mind, this was all before she dated Mike Tyson so the "abused" excuse doesn't stand. Basically, you see a nice girl, I don't.

At the top of my head, things that she could answer to are why was she a bitch to everyone not part of her little group? Why did she have a lousy relationship with her family? I’m not excusing her past behavior, I’m saying it doesn’t restrict mc from helping her out. She is an ass, but she’s also acting out her trauma from the abuse at times, so it’s not so black and white as to say she said something rude, so mc should give her the boot. I’m not qualified to treat anyone, but it’s not hard to understand how one might go about trying to help someone in such a situation. That’s not to say I wouldn’t screw up, I think it’s unrealistic that mc never screws up, never loses his temper, etc., but it doesn’t make him a pushover. It just makes the story seem more fake.
