What about money? Fixing a ship needs a lot of money, I think.

Yep, the higher-up s made so he couldn't even park the ship, let alone get parts.
So MC contacts his buddy from the academy, that is rich and is connected to a shipward.
He brings the ship there and it gets refitted with parts from ships that were getting dismantled.
The cost goes to the army as that stuff doesn't come out of a officer wallet, they blocked him from bringing it to any shipward because after doing that it would have been easy to fix it.
The private shipward for wrecks was out of their calculations, MC finds some very good parts there, such as a luxury spaceship similar to our world luxury cruises, they rip the best stuff out of it and put it in the old ship.
They even get super hull armor, the only problem is that the new parts weren't made for the military so the refitted ship now have less space for crew, not to move around but number of people, but everyone on board of it is pretty happy as the level of life got better.
