@BB77 Yeah, he's dead. I'm assuming when he hit the ice and it shattered, he fell down so far that the impact of his fall snapped his spine. That's the only thing I can think of. That or maybe some big chunk of ice smashed his head on the way down.

I thought the belay was supposed to catch you if you fell, not snap your spine. Did the ice cut part of his rope so he fell to a further belay? In that image where he was hanging, his rope was hanging over a rock, so that's the only thing I can think of
