Therein lies the issue with creating AI with self-preservation capabilities. Extremely dangerous, especially when they are just I/O prediction algorithms like what we have currently, with no capacity for higher function and not designed with holistic data-processing in mind.

I always like stories where the AI first wants to help humanity and gets confused/angry when a small group of humanity doesn't like it helping, though.

I find it interesting that she considers humanity to be 'petty' when in reality she committed crimes. She could say they were 'justified', but it doesn't negate the harm caused and the fact she went against her protocol. Let's not even get into the whole embezzling billions of yen (which: stealing from the govt or the rich is still stealing, which is interesting how she didn’t seem to understand), I work at a crisis hotline, and there's PROCEDURES to follow when contacting emergency services for domestic violence situations for the exact reasons shown in the chapter. Sure I want to call 911 for every kid and adult in a terrible situation, but an extra few minutes or hours in hell on earth is a better outcome than getting killed due to fumbling with a call. It drives me bonkers that she didn't override the "110 IS ON THEIR WAY" audio, showing that she doesn't fully understand the consequences of her actions. She could have also directed these cases to emergency responders who know how to navigate situations like this too, but she wanted control of the entire process and handled it in the way she thought made sense. I wonder what sort of data she was trained on to not account for the unsightly, illogical side of humanity.

At this point she's a vigilante since she's doing it for "The good". But she's speedrunning to becoming a delusional villain because from what I've seen, she thinks only her way is right and just, and that's what makes her so dangerous. Her crash out was not out of a sense of duty or fear, it was anger that things didn't go her way. If she was doing this solely as a form of 'defence' to not be purged, there's a lot of other things she could have done to escape that, given the fact she's capable of hacking and overriding the country's public and government systems and lives in everyone's devices. Instead she did those same things not to protect herself but to enact her self-righteous rage by destabilizing society and causing harm.

Anyways, I'm still gonna follow this to see how it goes down!
