The line to draw though is that if you choose to reject someone for their future then you can't go back and try to get with them later. Unless the answer of the rejection was "Not right now but please give me time" kind of thing. Kawai just said "No" and then reappears.

Yeah, and also cause she didn't tell him anything except "you're too cringe" AND not telling him she likes him IIRC. That's no help to anyone...

She didn't do that for her own image. Tadano was stuck in a phase that would have hurt him in so many ways and she wanted him to change before that happened.

It may not seem that big of a deal, specially for people that are still in the same situation as adults and found a way to continue their lives despite it. But many more don't achieve that, many more become the bad and original meaning of an "otaku".
