This series doesn't excite me like it used to, despite being my first exposure to the manga world, Nowadays feels slow and not much happens or that's how it feels to me.

Since Viz took the translating license and my country blocked access to it, I've been neglecting this series. If it's not on Mangadex I'm less likely to go out of my way to read it. It happened to a lot of series, Komi, Tonikawa, and Fragrant Flower. All titles I loved, but now I barely keep up with them. Don't ask me where the story is in the last 2 cuz I haven't read it in months.
Aggregator sites have them. And not all unnoficial translations posted on mangadex , so it's good idea have at least one site like batoto or manganato in bookmark

MangaDex is such a High end site that any site that even have an Ads upon a slightest touch irritated me.

But I’ll give the site you recommended a try.

Wait so what happened to the Komi Scan group? I thought they were the ones doing the series.

Ugh.

Ya know what, all of these new characters are just either tryhards at being unique, boring, or annoying. I really don't care for them. I guess this here's the reason why (some) side characters should never get the spotlight. The author really wrote themselves into a corner with the "100 friends" thing (and the same reason I worry about 100 Girlfriends), and unless your name is Oda, it's quite difficult to think of that many interesting characters. At least Komi only has 21 friends to go before the series ends.

And I think it's time for me to drop Komi-san, it was a good run while it lasted. I've mostly just been skimming these recent chapters, and skipping most of them unless they're Komi or Tadano chapters. I really wish this series ended a bit after they hooked up so it ended on a good note... and I guess this is also why most romance manga ends after they get together, it gets boring quickly afterwards.

Obviously fair to drop if you are not interested, I just want to say that:
  • "it gets boring quickly" only if the author is not great at depicting things; plenty of manga interesting after the main couple starts to date, or even that starts with them dating and adds more going on (if you aren't reading it yet, I can suggest you "You and I are polar opposites" on Mangaplus for the latter)
  • Komi is a SoL with added romance, so slow pace and sticking with the side characters is a big part of it.
If you wanted a straight focus on the main couple I suppose that a manga more inclined to Romance is what you'll like more.
But again, Komi's main point has always been being a SoL, so...

  • Thanks for the recommends, might check them out if it's something like Horimiya and Tsurezure Children, which both did a way better job than Komi-san after they became a couple.
  • SoL and comedy, and I don't think Komi-san the series are doing a good job at both, at least recently. Heck, even Yamai the Yandere (although IMO it was a huge missed opportunity for Komi-san to NOT befriend her) is a lot more interesting than most of these new characters/classmates. They're just not interesting nor funny enough on their own (or even worse, plain annoying), and there's just too many of them for me to care. Compare the new characters and side characters from Iruma-kun and I dunno, Saiki K. They're just much more interesting from the start or have lots of potential to become interesting in the future.

As Mark Twain wrote at the end of Tom Sawyer:

"So endeth this chronicle. It being strictly a history of a boy, it must stop here; the story could not go much further without becoming the history of a man. When one writes a novel about grown people, he knows exactly where to stop -- that is, with a marriage; but when he writes of juveniles, he must stop where he best can."

I wanted to drop but this series mean a lot to me so it’s in “On-hold” till this day.

I’ll definitely binge it when it end.

Because Viz is only available for North America I think, which mean 90% of the world's population can't read them, and many wouldn't want to turn on VPN only to read a manga chapter
Nope. Central europe here and I can ready it in app without vpn or anything.

Fair enough. Sometimes I can stick with a series that became "bad" (like Attack on Titan) until the end, but for others, I just can't do it if the series did something really stupid/annoying/dragging the story along like in Tokyo Revengers (should've ended on a good note after saving everyone, instead of ANOTHER arc with a certain character becoming evil AGAIN) that I drop it immediately, or if they've got way too many annoying characters, and/or if the series' gimmick or characters just stops being funny or interesting or they're overused.

Unfortunately, I only care about Tadano, Komi, Manbagi, and a few other characters in this series. However, Tadano and Komi already hooked up so that's one less interesting thing to read about, and Manbagi is already out of the running but she already has a replacement boyfriend for her (of which I don't care about).

Haven't read Tom Sawyer (I'm not American) but that is fitting. I've noticed some manga authors just don't know when to stop the series. Most likely they don't have a real ending, or any ending at all in mind since they're too focused on pumping a new chapter every week/month and to keep their series alive as long as possible. Gotta keep those ratings up after all!

It's understandable if the quality suffers, but I wish the manga industry wasn't that cutthroat.
