But yea, I guess it was the girl's drunk and/or violent father who ruined their secret treehouse, and now she blames herself? Or that's how it usually goes in these mangas

I don't think it's even NTR. All he knows is that his ex-wife wanted a divorce, framed him for domestic abuse, and then ruined his reputation.

His trauma comes from the fact that he was completely blindsided by all of it. He has no idea what he might have done to make her go to such lengths, or what he did to deserve it. The fact he was blind to everything leading up to that collapse is what has him second-guessing not only everything he does but also his qualities as a person.

Especially since his childhood friend has basically been a godsend, giving him a place to live and doing everything she can to lift him up. He's terrified of "getting the wrong idea", and then hurting/scaring someone so important to him. Again.
Having all his coworkers and acquaintance immediately take her side and believe the accusations would be a serious head fuck too. Just imagine your partner saying "I was abused by you" and everyone you know saying "yep that sounds about right".

I get the trauma :facepalm:I also fumbled a baddie because of a bad break up...

But man... don´t be such a wimp:facepalm: The spine of a literal ameba, Jesus christ.

I really wish for a short, well writen romance where people can TALK.

Eh, it makes sense that he'd be swayed by a few poison words from some random guy. Trauma is like that. It adds weight to your negative thoughts and erases your positive ones.

I'm more disappointed that our two leads are doing the miscommunication dance.

Such a shame that a really fun concept is being dragged down by truly awful writing. I had a feeling given the setup from the beginning but this author really has no idea how to write anything interesting without resorting to completely over-the-top drama and bizarre characterisation. I have a sneaking suspicion that regardless of what actually happens in this manga, every chapter is basically going to be some variation on this one.
Awful writing? The guy got completely blindsided with a divorce, and has no clue as to why. It would be bad writing for him to suddenly be okay after someone shows him a little attention. He is questioning his entire existence and doesn't want to get the wrong idea about the literal only person he has in his life to bring him joy. How is it bad writing for someone who went through something traumatic to be traumatized by it?

I think what you meant to say is "This isn't written exactly how I want it to be, so I am going to say it is bad." Over the top drama? How is this over the top? He is worried he got the wrong idea, and doesn't have the confidence in himself anymore (for good reason given his circumstances). This is not over the top drama this is absolutely some of the most tame and reasonable drama I have seen in this genre.

So true brother this is peak writing actually, nothing in this is heavy-handed or exaggerated to make sure the retarded average reader understands what's going in this finely put together masterpiece with extremely realistic human interactions. 🐴

Some Random Dude: "She's nice to everyone so don't misunderstand."

Kazukage: "I guess she's not interested in me."

Karen: Sleeps next to him, cooks for him and does loveydovey things with him all the time.

Kazukage: "She couldn't possibly be into me right?"

Thanks for the translation. I would recommend doing all the SFX, it's quite awkward when reading to see it partially done.

I think it was Karen who got called an 'otaku', not Kazukage, just like how Kazukage accidentally called her 'Karen' first before quickly switching to 'Chida' to stay formal
No, he's referring to Kazukage as otaku in the original sense of "a moderately respectful pronoun to refer to someone" instead of "someone who is extremely enthusiastic about something".

Well, now it all makes sense! He's basically just saying 'you,' but in a respectful manner. Thanks for the correction!

The first half of the chapter was super wholesome, but towards the end, MC is still completely stuck in his NTR trauma from his ex-wife. Also, I can already smell the drama coming from Karen's ikemen coworker for future chapters :haa:

In what world does he think random co-worker is at the same level as a childhood friend

Only bad writing here is the incel at work, it's bad writing because the man who just got divorced and framed for domestic abuse without knowing what he could've done to deserve such lengths isn't pipping down the only person who is there for him after she shows interest in him off-screen, it's some incel shit.

Rereading, and to be fair the ex-wife did frame him by recording one of their conversations without his consent or knowledge. The one in which he briefly lost his cool because he n' his wife had just finished building their house. But on top of his massive frame and socially awkward personality? That recorded "proof" would be more than enough...

He's massively insecure about how he's reading signals b/c his ex wife blindsided him and he hasn't seen Karen in years before they moved in together, so he's presuming that the coworker who has interacted with adult Karen longer than he has might have a better read on Karen's signals.
