There was one manhwa I read (and sadly got axed) where this was the case, but instead of the tree killing the dude, the MC got isekai'd for doing something to that tree that I'll leave you to guess what he did

OK...anyone else sees this explanation of why the MC doesn't use his power to make himself immortal(even just for the time it takes to subjugate the demon lord), as anything else that the authors half-cooked attempt to explain this glaring plot-hole? (and in my opinion fail and badly).

I can understand that he is afraid of the rebound but I don’t understand why he hate the idea of becoming immortal.

With word magic, I am sure he can still kill himself after he get tired with life anyway, writing origin, lifting immortality or something,…
