this chapter really hits hard, like I'm at stage at work that luckily unlike Japan, I can just change work and start without the crux of having left another job, but pretty much I'm thinking of changing job because it has gotten to stale and doesn't look like I can get some changes even if recently I got a Senior position for the same job (pretty much a superficial change)

Then there's the hidden rule 3; never be the supervisor/manager for your friends if you work together

that's why rule 3 and 1 makes number 4: never work with your friends.

Page 6 , wait wouldn’t reporting the numbers one and a half times higher make the boss look even better ? If not trying to get him to slip up and brag and somehow get accused of fraud as opposed to it seeming like he was meeting some quota and the other higher ups asking the boss specifically to handle some difficult sales/business meeting or the reports helping the coworkers get more of a bonus
