Yeah, there's no way this could have happened before the main story. Everyone in town knows about the wizard fighting with the demon. Kazuma and Aqua would have to know about her. The relationship between Megumin and Yunyun is completely wrong. They were NEVER best friends, much less friends. All the money flying around, there's no way that Megumin would be 3 days without food before joining Kazuma. Megumin is NOT in with either the Eris OR Axis cultist (where she could get money or food any time). It was a good story, but it's definitely in some alternate universe, not the main Konosuba canon.

I wish this had happened in a different town without any axis cult but with lots more Komekko and Hohst and I wish we could follow Yunyun and Megumin individually and would see Yunyun learn advanced magic and meet with Megumin in the end when they bring down lady Wolchenbach together.
That would have been awesome.

Nah, even in the main story, Megumin was shown to have known Cecily (she introduced Cecily to the gang in vol 8). And no, she isn't part of Axis or Eris cults, she's just Cecily's jailbait 'friend'.

As for the money, even in THIS manga it clearly says Megumin gave ALL the reward away. The LN explains that she felt guilty-ish since Hohst came to Axel cause of Chomusuke. She also blew away all her money buying stuff for the prepwork to defeat Hohst.

Anyway, I dunno where you got the impression of Yunyun and Megumin being not even friends, but I've read up to vol 13 of the LN and they're basically an old married couple... without the sexual implications.

Yunyun's journey would be fun. We never really know what she did inbetween this and the time they met again during the giant frog incident. Although the LN did state she was well known among the adventurers as a lone wizard who always helps other parties and then suddenly run away after saving them. Which lead to the rest of the adventurer 'respecting' her by letting her soloing instead of anyone asking her to join their party (they thought she preferred soloing)

Megumin's journey though... is pretty much the Konosuba story. She met up with Kazuma and Aqua 3 days after the end of this. As for the Wolbach duel, it's in the LN vol 9.
