Ahhh the translator's burden of having to translate "我輩" (wagahai)...
I know translators have a hard time trying to accurately convey the nuance to English-speakers, but I feel like they should just use "wagahai" and include a footnote explaining the word. It's also a good way to encourage readers to learn a bit about the Japanese language and culture anyways.
On the other hand, if they took the time to alter every sentence so "moi" is being used correctly (rather than just replacing every damn first-person pronoun) it could work. For example, the sentence "Moi cannot understand why you..." could be turned into "Cannot understand, moi, why you..." and the extra affectation would be kinda similar to the weird and annoying nuance of "wagahai".
It's tough to decide. You have some readers who have no idea what "moi" means, some who vaguely understand it's French, and others who get triggered by it's improper use (like me lol).
