It wasn't just her jumping the gun, the twins also misinterpreted it as being having children with Alan. Pretty sure it is just the way Alan has communication problems.
It was really interesting to see the two different mindsets at work on the same problem of organizing a new country. Especially the way that "joint rulers" became "King and Queen" in the minds of the natives. It certainly settled a lot of anxieties to have the assurance of marriage ties brought up. The whole context of trust was cemented behind that social construct.

Alan probably didn't know the implications of his words, but when the time comes I am sure he will go with the flow. It would be the most expedient path, and he may develop feelings for her by then as well.

I'm a little surprised Cleria's retainers all accepted the plan so readily, but I guess that's what loyalty is. That and they're all religious, with Alan's perceived links to the goddess to help them accept the outlandish plan he just sprung on them. Also, maybe they felt more at ease from her misunderstanding, that she has also secured the line of succession for the Starvine house.

Thankfully the food glazing scenes are made as short as can be. Alan getting praised numerous times for delicious food doesn't really add anything to the story. I get it, he's a can-do Gary Stu who's good at everything except noticing women's feelings.
