I genuinely don't care to know any more about the princess' circumstances. Yes, she seemed to be against it, maybe she disputed it behind the scenes too, don't care. When she broke the news to MC, she let the hanger-on speak on her half and diss him. Control your people and don't let them speak for you.

if youre upset about these characters behavior: it will only get worse from here on.

the nation and people who cast this main character out will never make it up, the ex girlfriend will just get her spot back at demand, and the forced exile turns into some very forced reintegration.

back to the ex girlfriend
  • she openly suggests they distance from each other, despite knowing his feelings
  • she gets a fiance

while being aware he wants nothing more than to be by her side. her father is the emperor and the protagonists father is the emperors closest friend. the emperor outright offers to support her if she wanted to marry him.
and then she gets jealous?
she did everything in her power to ruin their relationship, and it gets handwaved away with "if they are married she will be further from succession, and if she becomes emperor she can fix the system that threw him out".
she doesnt make sense and it feels contrived.
she doesnt deserve a seat at the harem table. she is more of a saboteur who jumps on her ex boyfriend to reap in the profits after he recovered from his publicly and societal degradation. which was partially done by her.

Freaking sigh...

Sounds like it's time to brew some good coffee and take a sip. Do you want a cup or the whole carafe?

They have reached a level where it is mandatory to combine magic to your weapon to fight. Eugene's magic is so focused on defense that it negates the offensive potential of the weapon itself. It literally makes the blade all wobly, even with high quality swords.
His goal was to be her personal body guard. He can't fill that role if he can't fight back against opponents. You can't be the princess's body guard and let her fight.
Which once again, makes little sense. Just seems like they went and limited the way one can use magic to an extreme degree. Forcing a fighting style that's outright bad in many situations and very limited.

I don't know if you've read Zero Believer (by the same author), but the premise is more or less the same with the MC being a mage but he has barely any mana, so he can't cast many spells before running out of juice. The solution is to synchronise with someone else (generally a girl) and use this girl's mana to create his spells. Later, he learns to summon spirits and uses the spirit's mana, so he can fight alone more or less.

It is the same situation here. The author is not very original. This time the MC is a swordsman but he still needs to borrow someone else's power to use it with his own technique. This time again, the MC is missing a key piece before being able to fight alone. So he will rely of others (the members of his harem) until then.

This chapter was a flashback from a year ago. After Airi told him that they should keep their distances, Eugene left the imperial capital the next day and went to this academy at the other end of the continent.

The next chapter is back into the tower and the fight against the three headed monster that we see on the last page.

It's been a while since I read the novels and I'm not up to date with the latest chapters, but he will not interract with the princess for a while.
