Maybe it's because it's been years since I read it, but it's weird how I don't remember anyone recognizing Kiibo as the finalist of a historic tournament that was televised worldwide in the sequel.

Interesting, when reading Tough, I assumed Kibo had won the tournament since he killed Garcia.
But the winner died and the loser lived. It makes sense, he didn't have the aura of a champion at the beginning of Tough.
I love that a 20+ year old manga can still have twists.
