I hate this whole meta discourse that protagonists do, "oh I want a peaceful school life" which translates into "I don't want friends, girlfriends, attention", they go "I am just a background character/mob character", they seem to just want to "exist".

I weep for Japan if this idea is so widespread among the average teen, still, I hate how widespread is in the Manga world, make the protagonist look like a loon, a couple steps off from ted kaczynski and complaining about the industrial revolution.

We have not yet hit the part of the summary that says "until I saved them from a potential assault and they became intensely fond of me" so I'm guessing the asshole guy group is gonna try and pull something horrid in the near future.
