I read the first season, story is very unique and lots of drama to keep you on edge. But it could be quite repeative and not always make logical sense. The world building is interesting but a bit too complicated.

Characters is quite the weakness. Basically every characters is the same character. Yes, they may vary but their brain work exacly the same and everyone is way too emotional (dont expect any rational thinking). Their emotion is control their life and everybody suffering so the situation is quite a mess and hard to tell which side is wrong or right.

When I first read this, I thought that I knew what the story (and genre) is all about come chapter 2. But when I reached over 150 chaps, the doubts which I was feeling since Season 1 was completely hammered and I realized on how stupid I was. Kubera was never just tied to one genre with multiple subgenres and confusing as hell plot. No. Thinking back now, I can't believe on how slow I was on the uptake. Though, dumb as I was, I still managed to notice some hints and clues from my first re-read and the mystery and suspense was what kept me going.

Even though the art style in the earlier part was "unappealing" for some it didn't really bothered me as much as when I first read ToG. I guess it's because I already knew from ToG to never judge the art.

And boy, am I so glad to persevere and rack my two braincells to understand the plot and come up with theories. This, along with ToG shall always tie as my no. 1 fave manhwa ever. 10/10

Characters 10/10 - they are totally super fleshed out. They react differently to the person and situation they're facing. Not only the mcs, the side characters are also layered with such complexity. Like Leez for example, she seems so dumb, ignorant, naive and carefree but she's so great at faking it that she also fools the readers. She knows what's really happening but she can't really do anything about it because for her, she's just a baggage who's shamelessly mooching off of a person she just meet and is being followed by a deadly sura that can destroy mountains in just merely seconds.

Plot 9.5/10 - the plot is absolutely brilliant and everything has already been planned far out so even though it becomes confusing, you'll rest assured that the author isn't just pulling anything randomly and out of the blue as the plot progresses because she also don't know what direction her own story is going. If you fear that Currygom is going to just drop this just like how every other manhwa authors did to their works or that this'll have a shitty ending, then worry not. A story as complex as this would have taken years to solidify so I'm certain that Curry wouldn't just pull a random ending out of nowhere. The only reason why this isn't a 10 is because the current arc is still progressing and it's confusing af.

Clues/Hints 10/10 - re-reading this masterpiece was really an eye-opener. I noticed that the foreshadowing were already set as early as Chapter 1. I just feel so dumb for not catching most of them. The clues are scattered all around the manhwa. Whether it's hidden in plain sight, in the character's action, in the background, and even the thought process, it's there. Just waiting to be unfold. I had multiple experiences where I was like "oh! So this is the reason why C character was acting strange in B chapter. The clue was already in A chapter! I feel so dumb for not connecting the evidences. 😢" Having a great memory and thoroughly reading the chapters is the best way to read the series. Though, if one is persistent enough, even if you have a faulty memory and poor eyesight like me, then you'll eventually manage..

Art S1 6/10, S2 & S3 8/10 - being the sole author and artist (with not even one assistant) of a complex series such as Kubera for over a decade, I understand why the art didn't improve that drastically like ToG did. Though, it's still great and you can notice the major change. Personally, the art style I loved the most in the series was when it was nearing the end of season 2. I just love the palette/colors used.

If you're going to read this and wants to have an in-depth understanding of Kubera, then try the wiki (tread carefully tho, for it's full of spoilers) or just visit the old batoto discussion forum. The people in there have actively tried to understand and theorise the series. Even moreso than the Line comments which are overflowing with shallow comments. There are even people disliking the translated blogs and the observations of the earlier chapters. They think that those were spoilers when those infos are really super helpful in understanding the series..

I loved this so much but I am done because the story became very weird and the hiatus made it hard to follow.

My absolute favourite webtoon/manhua. Totally agree with what a previous commenter said, there's tons of foreshadowing everywhere. I think currygom mentioned in an extra she has all the story arcs planned out in advance, and it really shows.

The only thing is it's a better experience binging all the chapters and re-reading than it is keeping up week-to-week. This is mainly because some plot points and mysteries are not immediately explained and are brought up in later chapters or arcs, so sometimes you might miss things or be a bit confused until you re-read since some time has passed.

Also seconding checking the wiki while being mindful of spoilers. If you don't understand something in a chapter, you can try checking the wiki article for that chapter. They will have notes pointing out some interesting details/implications you may have missed, possible theories, etc.

Also some of the terminology in earlier chapters is not consistent with later translations:
Knight -> Fighter
Oracle (person) -> Priest/Priestess
Original God -> Primeval God

Also more God Kubera screentime please :'(

@PRECIOUS143 I remember reading this about 10 years ago? around there anyway, and I vividly remember how blatant the foreshadowing was, it was everywhere and super noticeable most of the time.

@Tierra and the scanlation team, thank you for still providing us with the Kubera fan translations. Waiting till Line catches up will be a nightmare when I already know so much. 😅 Though, I'll still support the official releases and fastpass them. Because Currygom deserves all the compensation for making this wonderful series.

@sedition then that means that you're pretty observant! ☺ Unfortunately, not many people are fast on picking up most of the hints and re-reading helps in bringing some to light. And just like @Arunj said, if you re-read the series and catch up, then you'll notice some foreshadowings you've missed, just lurking in the background. ☺

Hi guys, I have a question, I binged read this and I'm now starting volume 3 but I see a big gap in chapters here from chapter 7 to 160, is there an error in the names or are the chapters missing and I have to read it elsewhere?
