My god, this manga is so fucked up yet so interesting

So what was the real story here? Did the father have a heart attack in the middle of the road and the boy was trying to help him when he got run over? Was the mother and her son trying to commit insurance fraud by making the father's death look like an accident?

Really interesting Manga, defense attorney manga defending scumbags, but leaving it ambiguous whether the people he is defending actually did what they are accused of. Interesting that we are supposed to be horrified that lawyers defend bad people, the idea of an amoral lawyer wouldn't shock anyone in the US. My impression of the Japanese Justice system is that it is pretty unfair even compared to the US system, so I am interested if the series will explore that, or if it has that perspective.

What's more fucked up about all this is that his statement that lawyers should defend their clients even when it is morally reprehensible is absolutely true, because those kind of clients are going the very first ones that fall prey to an abuse in the system.Granted, no one is going to cry for a pedo or a guy like this being sentenced to 10 years or more over faulty evidence, but as soon as you make those concessions is when you risk people that don't deserve it being sentenced for stuff they shouldn't be sentenced for, thus making the justice system unjust.

It's a shame that we have so few chapters here, a manga like this can pose some very interesting questions about the workings of the justice system.
