So, this chapter begins by flashing forward to a butt-hanger, and then backs-up, and starts a sequence that doesn't reach the butt-hanger. The editor should have grabbed the writer of the adaptation by the nose and shouted “No do!”
It's a dream sequence, she's actually being suffocated by bears.

I think the confusion of "Iron Golem" not being made of iron would be less if people call them metal(lic) golems.

Against humans, big maybe. Distance management and defensive stances are the basics any fighter teaches.

Against monsters and beasts tho, I think you'd wanna pit your DEX fighter's muscle against them as little as possible
I didn't mean to full on grapple a bear with one hand, generally meant to use an open hand to vault over terrain or use items or something. It's kinda hard to explain I guess.

I assumed at first you were thinking sth like using the offhand to break/open/dismantle someone's guard/stance? While that's a thing in HEMA, generally youd be better off doing so with a tool since that provides more reach.

As for vaulting over terrain, unless the terrain is very steep youre unlikely to need more than your legs (and good ankle protection ig). You'd be amazed how well your torso can balance in fucky terrain.

Using items like throwables/explosives with your off hand makes sense, and it's quite common in various mangas already.

This seems to be more popular with warriors who use a proper sword in their main hand. Daggers don't have enough offensive power, do dagger-users who are not assassins tend to prefer using two of them.
