Wait, so if there was a gate blocking the exit, how did all the snakes and frogs and stuff get out? That was the whole reason the humans sent an expedition into the labyrinth in the first place - the area surrounding the entrance to the labyrinth became increasingly dangerous because of all of the monsters leaving (because of spider's new fear aura).
I'll just assume someone left the door open by accident.
