Since the princess has appraisal + can see skills (and so likely every skill Lythe has, though we haven't seen his window from her POV), she knows just how valuable Lythe is and is probably trying to rope him into the future royal bloodline to hopefully secure his weird "joblessness" for the country's sake.

Aside from the heredity aspect, a royal marriage is just a good way to shackle someone to your family + make sure they can't just quit/retire to get away.

Yeah I mostly agree, unfortunately though unless she's shown to somehow be a bad guy, I assume we're just gonna get harem/rival hijinks until right up to the end (which, since this is an adaptation, is more likely to be an eventual axe/"ad promo" than it is the actual end of the original, so no chance of resolution there). Oh well.
