Explanation kinda makes sense but man, why so convoluted and why is random phase 2 necessary. Concept here was definitely neat and given time Sage guy could be a cool rival with no skills vs all skills clashing every once in a while.

Instead though here we are
In a sense the sage guy is the complete opposite of the mc, he got high class but can't use skills, he only have an absurd amount of mana so he learned all his spells on his own while lythe has a rock bottom class but makes him automatically learn skills of the people he punches. I say the sage puts more effort and earned his strength while lythe deserves his skills for what he had experienced.

Yeah he's a really good counter balance and is kinda the only way MC could have a real long term competition
