I love how the author don't shy away from doing those kinds of chapter, it serves to flesh out the other characters and also gives us a small break from their romance which helps to keep things fresh.
On top of that it highlights another aspect of Kuroda/Azuki healthy relationship: they give space to each other do their own thing.
Sure, they're not dating yet, but Azuki already knows her feelings for him and Kuroda also knows that deep down, even if his mind doesn't recognize. And even when they become a couple I'm sure they'll respect eachother's spaces.
