Page 2 full color jump scare joy was unexpected, but certainly not unwelcome.

For the chapter itself, I thought Kuroda is going to happen nearby so they could have a "couple with a child" shot.

What/who is hatchiman?
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Kan

His career goal was to become a House Husband.

Hachiman Hikigaya

Hachiman is the story's main protagonist, an isolated, friendless boy who is pragmatic to a fault. His most prominent feature is his set of "dead fish-eyes." He firmly believes that "youth" is simply an illusion created by hypocrites, for hypocrites, born from the ashes of past failures. In this state of apparent corruption, he is coerced into joining the Service Club by his futures advisor in the hopes that exposing him to the world will change his personality, and ultimately make him a "better person." He is called "Hikki" affectionately by Yui.

I remember watching one of those Japanese street interview videos years ago, asking young women about their dream career choices. Becoming a bride seemed to be an actually valid choice. Where I live, I doubt one person out of a hundred would say that.
Good for Japanese women. They know what they want and they're not ashamed of it. I'm glad that their society hasn't indoctrinated them into believing that the desire to be a full time housewife is indoctrination from the pAtRiArChY.

According to different polls, such as a 2013 survey conducted by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, about one-third of unmarried women aged 15-39 expressed a desire to become full-time housewives. This desire is especially strong among working women, as Japanese housewives tend to experience less stress and healthier lifestyles compared to their working counterparts. (though this is influenced by societal factors like limited career growth for women)

In short, many still dream of the classic, stereotypical image of a happy housewife with children.
That's over ten years ago, so not exactly super hot data. And yeah, as someone else pointed out, while JAPANESE housewives may experience less stress than their working counterparts, that's likely more reflective of Japanese work culture rather than the virtues of being a housewife in general. However, recent surveys also show that over 75% of actual mothers continue working after having children ("Looking at households with child(ren) in terms of the labor force status of mothers, households with mothers "with work" account for 75.7% of such households, showing an upward trend." - Source, 2022). And as pointed out, it's an upward trend, so it seems like the popularity of the housewife model is gradually decreasing.

Questionable.
The survey doesn't take into account the major factor in this trend, namely "the expenses necessary to raise kid(s)". A possible explanation for this trend can be simply the fact that the expenses are gradually increasing and the husband's salary is not enough to cover them, so the mothers are actually "forced" to work to support their family.

I didn't make any claims about what the reason for the dropping popularity is. Maybe it's because it's more expensive to raise children. Maybe it's because being a housewife sucks. Maybe it's because being a breadwinner gives you more freedom and power in life. Maybe it's something else. Maybe it's some mix of all of these things. We can't really say anything about any of that without more empirical data.
