i was also initially wondering for a moment if the translators fucked up somehow & so i really can't fault you guys for doing the same, but just thinking back to previous chapters (or y'know, looking at em) there was a reveal that they're all in some sort of cursed reincarnation cycle (i think) & this is a flashback to their previous lives when they had different names (or something like that). lil bit more obvious once you finish the chapter & the MC fucking dies though. if anyone is to blame for the initial confusion i guess it'd be the mangaka for not firmly re-establishing that we're in a flashback outside of just the title of the chapter, considering everything looks pretty much like business as usual at a glance with the sole exception being ONE character's name/outfit. considering the time gap between chapters it's pretty easy to forget that the situation is different than it was right before the flashback started, & that's pretty much your only context clue aside from the single character difference mentioned lol

EDIT: actually nvm I blame the author for making an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CHARACTER look like Rion lmao, I just assumed she was tied to this dumbass cycle too (maybe under different rules, hence the name change) but they immediately clarify in the next chapter that it's a different person entirely AND change the hairstyle to what it probably should've been in the first place to avoid this kind of confusion lmao, that shit was stupid
