I feel like the author thinks there has been more character and relationship development than there actually has been.

@Rinfolia my bet is that she feels like she would just be a third (or even fourth) wheel since he already has Mel, and Efil is more or less already his second wife. Depending on the situation, nearly all of them take a back seat to battles. Also depends on where you count clotho too.

She also has a lot of pride, so maybe just the suddeness of the question put her too much on the spot, and so she said that out of embarrassment from being read like an open book.

Could also be something else, like opposing values towards polygamy, if Kelvin even has "romantic marriage" in his dictionary, or because Mel is a goddess and she is a demon, maybe they cant be together any closer than party members/friends. Idk.

Wow, what an exciting new character I've already seen 100 identical versions of before.

@twinklecake , yea I've seen some guildmaster/barkeeper/shopkeeper having similar designs too, really a low (and poor) effort from those authors trying to make 'interesting' gimmicky side characters with an unusual personality/image. I feel that the inspiration behind these characters is mostly due to Ladybeard, Biscuit from HunterXHunter, and JoJo, especially the design of this peach oni. I think that they thought by adding these 'joke characters' they could add some touches of humour into the character interactions, but it's always the same few 'surprised/weirded out' responses when the main casts meet these characters for the first time. While I find it to be kinda ignorant for the authors to not give these characters proper backstory and full personality, which those aspects are necessary that people would be able to at least tell if these characters are cross-dressing, drag, or transgender/non-binary instead of mixing them up (which would just make the readers to feel that such characters are ridiculous/silly/confusing/not to be taken respectably, and in turn causing their perceptions on trans/non-binary people formed similarly). However, it's not as offensive as it seems, because at least they generally aren't designed to be villains or have problematic lines, and also because it's still not as progressive on LGBTQ matters in Japan/Asia that most people are suppressed, less polarised and more insensitive towards that so even if there are controversial characters, they are usually neglected/avoided if the series isn't popular enough anyway.

This kinda character really is the most worn out trash. If you'd just taken out the stubble and made them 'super strong cute girl' it would've been less obnoxious, especially if the other character reactions were tweaked appropriately. Or plenty of other ways to take it.

'haha what if man but girl' just sucks though.

>translating "yatsu" into girl
I see the rot is spreading further.
