How daring of the author to portray the Church as cartoonishly evil, no other author has ever done this before, much less an isekai author.

I just can't understand why the isekai element is even here. It just detracts from the main story.
It's not like the isekai is being used as a way to further the plot or develop the character.
Looking at something like Mushoku Tensei where Rudi uses his previous life as a guideline for not repeating the same tragic mistakes.

I just really can't understand it. It's some weird fascination to make a story an 'isekai' without it ever positively impacting or paralleling the storytelling elements.

@shoker I think authors use it as a gambit to attract potential readers since this genre/setting is quite popular at the moment...

@firefox1234 @shoker i think in this case it's a reason to legimitize his otherworldly power and god just casually strolling around for a cuppa tea saying "this foxgirl is your waifu"

i.e. a plot device. am also aware that some other isekais treat being isekai'd as a deus ex machina

@shoker The only thing otherworldy transported over so far is his swordsmanship skills, other than that your right, it's just a run of the mill fantasy mangaka. Especially since they've already done a training time skip and stated he learned OP magic locked in a cage for 6 years... They could have easily thrown in sword training within the skip, eliminating any connection to the other world :/

@CaesarTG They really couldn't have; it was mentioned that the only time he saw the outside of his cell was when his older brother used him as a target for magic practice. While his particular brand of magic doesn't require any instruction, training, and such, that's a vastly different case for swordsmanship. You can technically learn swordsmanship from a book all on your own, but all you'll know is the forms, the foundations, but you'll lack any kind of knowledge on how to apply those things; worse, no book learning can really teach how to perform in measure, so even if you could learn to apply your study, you would be left with an utterly rote and stilted form of swordsmanship that, honestly, would be worse than just flailing randomly.

The isekai aspect is really just a convenient way to have the protagonist have access to knowledge that they could not naturally gain, in this case, swordsmanship.

If i had that power and book as well as the ability to actually draw i would make some space marines to just ruin the day of any and all enemies

this is pretty enjoyable so far, doesn't get it why it's low rating?
