This is the only chapter/page (besides 142~143) that really bothered me with regards to the entirety of the story, as it ends up unclear what happens to bodies of human corpses that are possessed. It also seems to be a custom of this town in particular, as it's rather vague with how the city is.

It's unclear for a reason: They also probably don't know. Or it's unsafe to transport the bodies. Or they break down. Any number of things. As for the possessed: It seems highly indicated they turn into the monsters. There'd be no way to identify a monster who had once been a human, or a way to bury their bodies.
