Hm. I hate it when authors/publishers make cryptic translations by themselves. I'll need confirmation as the plot progresses, but right now it is quite clear that the title of this series is Id of Black Steel, "Id" as in the disorganized part of the personality structure that contains a human's basic, instinctual drives, according to Sigmund Freud's model of the psyche (from Wikipedia). It also explains why Natsuhito goes berserk when in his mecha form; why Fishes prompted him with the question of what he deeply desires; and why he even forgets what happened afterwards.

Not that it matters, as I'll be only reading this… in all likelihood.

Wait I'm super confused guys. Is there something missing from the end of chapter 1 to the beginning of chapter 2? The last thing that happens is the monster fusion, but the beginning of chapter 2 skips over all that and goes straight to the hospital scene, including a bunch of references to things that happened during the boss fight.

Edit: The answer is yes. There's a chapter 1.2 or 1.5 or however you want to call it missing. Champion Scans has it in their online reader but it's not here.

I did chapter 4 for private consumption a couple of months ago. Since Champion has already released their version in their site, and it has already spread to other aggregators, and the series seems to have been abandoned by the authors or publishers anyway, releasing mine can do no harm.

Releasing a chapter every once in a while made people forget it, it had a start that felt old style but that is, a lot of plot holes, little to no explanation, drama for the sake of it.
No one believed in this manga from the start.

Congratz to the translator to sticking with it.
It looks like the cliche end is closing in, possessed friends returns to a enemy HQ, MC recovers and together with the army launch a assault on it, then probably inject some virus or his soul into the trooper control station and breaks it worldwide.
That or for some reason the aliens (or whatever) main HQ was in that city and it uses a hive mind with a queen, kill the leader, all done, possibly with a atomic self destruction.
