These kinds of stories really try to get you to be interested in the "secret" relationship these two had and how "they are still engaging in it even though it ended long ago" as if it would be a really cool plot point...but half the time it's either a misunderstanding that has ALREADY been resolved, or societal issues that they ALREADY don't care about. So it's just two people in a relationship that just so happens to be difficult to be intimate in. Big whoop.
