Oh ho! Very solid chapter 1 with a very good art style. The only criticism or things I'm thinking of so far is:

A) how would Yuri, as the final boss or npc in the game, actually function with their appraisal skill? Because as the player we would use them as UI and such for playing the game, but how would an npc functionally use it as an ability (unless this is just gonna end up as a barely explained plot device which probably is)

B) who else was it that died with Yuri? His sister? Or even a lover?!
(random tin foil theories) Is the original protagonist actually female and maybe the lover of Yuri but then Yuri betrayed the protagonist for behind the scenes/not explained in the game reason? Is that why MC said "the game became a 'gloomy game' after Yuri's death"? I wanna know the mystery (but also do t want spoilers to ruin the fun) 😭

C) isn't anyone who personally knowa Yuri going to be sus as hell about him now that MC has taken over?

Yeah? Enlighten me.
Every single Villain/ess isekai, I have read, has the setting of "the villan gets killed at the end, I must be good and do good to prevent that fate". Every single one.

I'm not talking about revenge stories, but even there it's pretty rare for a mc to actually be a villain instead of just getting revenge on a few people. Even in Redo Healer the MC actually recruits a lot of his enemies instead of killing them.
Out of my head, I only know of The executed sage where the MC acts as a villain. It's a rare case.
If you want villain-type mc who's ruthless and doesn't shy away from committing atrocities to further his ends, Lion Coeur Senki/The Saga of Lioncourt should fit. Too ruthless for me, I dropped it quite early.. Both the manga and novel are published in English.

Thanks for the recommendation, I've started reading it however I can't get into it. While I like the gritty setting in lion cour senki and the ruthlessness of the characters, it's almost as if it's just violent and brutal for the sake of being violent and brutal. The writing leaves a lot to be desired and is all over the place.

Edit: finished speed reading it just to see if it gets better or turns out as I expected. It doesn't get better. All characters act like complete morons.

So far so good, we did not go the Generic "buy a slave girl" route.
