As one with the 'tism myself, I've seen a lot of media try and fail to properly portray folk with developmental or intellectual disabilities, and Kurosagi is unfortunately not immune to criticism in this regard despite how good it is otherwise.
Amakawa as we know him is very low-functioning save for his incredible memory and fine motor skills. That makes sense. However, I well and truly hate the addition of "Help Me" being written on the back of the paper.
Developmental/Intellectual disabilities are not mind fogs that one can temporarily break through in a moment of lucidity. They are fundamental rewirings of how you process things. At best, sometimes a specific thing can 'click' for you, and you can understand something from more or less the same viewpoint that neurotypicals do. Happens sometimes.
The way the "Help Me" comes across gives the impression that this is the 'real' Amakawa breaking through and attempting to communicate. But again, that's not how it works.
Speaking from my own experiences as well as personally knowing and interacting with other people on the spectrum, Amakawa's way of communicating is very much so action-based, at least from what I could discern this chapter. He's someone who will want to show you something, and so walk towards it and expect you to follow, perhaps gesturing for you to do so.
How I would change this scene to make it as good as it could be, at least in my eyes, would literally just be to remove those two words. Amakawa is not someone who has been shown to communicate by word, written or spoken. He communicates by action and by visual. The gist of what he wants to get across is clear looking at his drawings. Now, he's leaving to go do his thing, and if anyone wants to take a look at it with him, they can follow him.
