I've always found it hard to put into words. It's just something about the way they look when smoking. There's something in their eyes which seems... dead, I dunno. At that moment, they seem like they're not actually there, but instead went off to Happy Tobacco Land and left a tiny cigarette goblin in charge of their brain.

There's also the fact that one has to go against every fiber of their being and force themselves to learn the habit of smoking, for whatever stupid reason they think they should.
So perhaps what I see is their self-preservation instinct bring suppressed and the maladaptive conditioning kicking in instead. Just an idea I had while thinking about this.

Like I said though, some smokers are more visibly deranged, almost crackhead tier, while some are more pitiful than anything. Nevertheless I lose all respect for someone if I find out they're a smoker.
