@Volttekka: It should be enough, but then again it is a society in which you can blame a motive on a person (inheritance) even before it comes to be (before the marriage). Stupid perpetrators and stupid audience. I hate to say it, but there is a chance the prince is somehow going to swindle himself out of this. If that is really what is going to happen, it is better to leave the country before he does so.
As far as the punishment goes: She pinned the murder back on them and took away the holy dragon. Taking that dragon with her might be actually a political catastrophe for that country. If it is that strongly interwoven into the folklore, that they say somebody liked be a holy dragon MUST be a good person, then chances are it is very important to uphold the legitimacy of the ruling cast to govern. Losing it favor might cause to lose the country's face in front of other countries and cause uprisings. And who knows what MC did contribute to the country. If she is betrothed to the heir (or at least a prince) she might have carries a very important role herself (Maybe it's just her being the Saintess and be liked by the dragon, which hasn't been made public, or she is the Hero or an important mage or alchemist or inventor...)
