There's a good foil between Kaede and MC in that MC is just as much the victim of bullying as all the other ones, but he had someone to act as his moral support. In fact, he may have had it worse as he never had parents to begin with and was forced to provide despite being poor. Despite this, he kept his convictions strong and developed a healthy moral support that got ripped away from him.

The others lacked this moral support and so were ultimately left to fester that anger inward and feel disenfranchised and without justice.
