I'm not familiar with the concept, but by visiting their website, don't they get paid if a certain number of people visit it?

I'm not an expert on monetization. I think payments are made based on eyeballs (number ads served/viewed) or click-thrus to the site with the product advertised. Having a higher visitor count probably does lead to higher charge to the advertiser, just like a larger viewing/listening audience does for TV or radio (are those still a thing?).
