Standard trope: the monsters can only be hurt by imbueing a weapon with mana/ki/specialsauce through an ability only high/middle school kids have.

If they were vulnerable to bullets you could teach high/middle school kids firearm safety and basic drill, and simply equip each and every one of them with an UZI or equivalent. The bigger kids could get an assault rifle/grenade launcher kit.
( no, stop screaming... That "Safe World"? Gone already... Better prepare them kids...)

I'd like to see a clutch of goblins with the usual Evolved Leader type egging them on run up to such a class...
15-30 UZI's going BRRRR! plus the odd grenade for fun would make short work of any procreative/lunch plans the Gobbo's had....

Mind.. I'd still teach the kids basic sword, spear/pike, and bow. Stabby stuff doesn't run out of ammo, and can be improvised. And bows teach kids to aim and make shots count.

Have you read Hidan no Aria already? It's kind of like a story about school for mages, except it's about school for gunslingers.

When his parents picked him up, in the alley with that bully, the warehouse behind the school and so on.
