weird, this isn't how an abused victim would think and act.. if someone proposed to you even under the guise of it being "to ward off suitors", the most common path of thinking of a victim is them thinking the other person likes them but also clashing with oneself with anxiety and paranoia since their self confidence is so broken beyond repair that they'll struggle to even have a a proper conversation without lashing out because of many emotions the victim is feeling simultaneously. i'm not saying this is a fact, i'm just saying in most cases^{(a.k.a. me)}
