Maybe they could have used Emma's arm (the girl who got killed at the end of the last chapter) and burn the arm thus killing its cells and reducing the amount of living organisms as stated in the mission.

I think it can go further with that the body is constantly killing germs and bacteria counts as a living organism. So I guess they pass the mission, but LAG won't accept that. That would be too easy.

Since the goal seems to be eliminating one organism (at least that was how I interpreted it), there is most likely other creatures in this floor. Or else why would LAG specify eliminating one organism
