@Enshou It would be correct to suspect prior teaching, but he dude is a witless idiot by outright claiming the Rustichels are liars. If he wasn't a fool, he would have just said Lippe indeed is smart and should have studied earlier on her own or received guidance from someone. At the end of the day Jade is just a servant and 100% reliant on the rich nobles to maintain his lifestyle. It's exceedingly arrogant to think he could start to play games with the nobles as if he was one of them. People will only listen to him as long as it's convenient for them to do it. Otherwise, he has no backing.

@Kaarme wow been quite awhile since I made that comment. Anyway not sure what it has to do with my point that he's not wrong and that his lie has far more truth in it than he realize.

I'm not judging his character rather I'm judging the things he said. From a readers perspective we can see he's more right than wrong in his statements. After reading the comments it seems most don't think about that or realize it.

@Enshou I know, which is why I didn't argue against your point of it being natural to think so. What I claimed is that he's a fool for speaking it aloud as well. There are a lot of situations even in RL, not just fiction, where it's unwise to claim someone is lying. Even if you know you are correct with the claim and could even prove it somehow, it might still do you more harm than good.
