I'm cutting him some slack for various reasons, firstly he's obviously going to spend time with his mistress with who he already has an established relationship with and it's not at all in any way odd especially taking into consideration the setting. Secondly, it's better than he was upfront with her about how he won't show her affection or anything like that, because of his established feelings with a mistress who he was with for over a year now. If anything it's mercy on her feelings and her respect and pride etc since feelings don't just change easily and leaving her to expect something would be cruel. (Of course, there are exceptions to this and how to handle the situation as well as the conduct was done with the mistress in front of her, because that's disrespectful and honestly the best way to go about it was to make this mutual understanding before getting married but of course that would change the plot completely so that's a no) Of course, our female lead wouldn't catch feelings and we know that especially with what happened in the first timeline however from any normal person's point of view who doesn't even know her very well it was pretty good of him to do. I just want to point out though that, that way of thinking is very subjective and it only works in this scenario because of it's setting and established ties, it wouldn't work as an excuse in something like Remarried Empress. Thirdly he isn't completely blinded by love and that's evident by the fact he faltered and started to freak out having a mini panic attack with the news that his lover almost damaged the political ties between a country to the point of potential war, which definitely gives him points and hows he isn't stupid. I've noticed a lot of people are calling him stupid or dumb but you forget that we are watching this from a readers point of view, we have information and viewpoints that he doesn't have access to nor any incentive to go find it so far until this chapter. The man just in love, and being deceived... I can't blame him for it. Lastly, I don't want to mistake this as me actually completely liking him, I don't but given the male leads in similar predicaments, this guy has redeemable traits and still has his sanity intact. Especially with those flashbacks, it's extremely hard to like him... Going back to the whole "The men are in love,- I can't blame him for it." this behaviour is seen in a lot of other males leads in manhwa and at times even at a much larger scale; it doesn't make sense why he has to be subjected to such negative criticism when it's shown in all your beloved male characters in manhwa, it's hypocritical... It seems a lot of you are reminded of Remarried Empress and to be honest, I can't really say anything to that since that was lowkey traumatizing for my soul; I don't think anyone can get over trashta like characters. I don't blame you! lmao. I'm also traumatized by trashta.
