I think it receiving acclaim has more to do with Japan's relatively high suicide rate than the quality of the content.

As someone who seriously considered suicide at one point in my life, this was heartfelt and sweet. It brought up some bad memories of the time I was once planning my own death but the ending left me happier then when I first started reading it.

Yeah, about than one below. If it doesn't offer any new perspective or anything interesting for someone who's never been in that state of mind, is it really that special? Does being a feel good piece for severely depressed really warrant an award? Because there are titles out there that are doing it better.

Once again, i thought it was good or more-than-good. It was contemporary, but nothing special or unique.

Hello. Just gonna say that the award is not even the best award for that season. Sorry for that misunderstanding. Actually, it was just a semi-finalist for the main award (so essentially it's around 4th to 7th placer in that season and every year, there are four seasons). The grand prize was claimed by Matsukawa Nao's Untouchable Lover, which was also scanlated by us. You should also take note that the people who join the contest are all newcomers and amateurs and the contest isn't something that you should actually compare to the likes of long running manga and stuff since of course, that would be on a whole new level.
