...The only hint I have that this was ever anything but a native western comic is the long vertical speech bubbles (well, and I suppose the content itself would sort of hint it; those are Japanese-style locker rooms, lunch boxes, that pick-up-the-eraser trope is a manga classic, etc. And yet...)

The art style, the paneling, everything is so blatantly western. I wonder where or how they learned to draw?
