Okay I see the point of 3 rounds. The actual best move here is to literally do nothing - but it seems the traitor went around to several people to cast doubt on Fukunaga using 2nd hand observations. The trouble is, all those people can easily point to who told them.

In that case, the traitor would then need to use intermediaries. But because information can only be shared via 2-person links, and because there are 11 people, we run into graph theory: the traitor can't simultaneously ensure 1) the minimum intermediary chain is longer than 3 (and thus undiscoverable in just 3 rounds) 2) reach more than half of voters in the final round (and thus influence the final vote). So because they panicked in the first round, they made themselves traceable. With 12 people, this wouldn't have been an issue.

No idea whether an intelligent traitor has options after this. With two people working together, you could try forging notes then "forwarding" them - but then the comparison/sharing of handwriting at the end would make this fragile + I'm guessing that's part of the reason why. That way, at least, you could create cycles and muddy up origin.
