Glad to see them getting closer, guaranteed horny moments next chapter too! :meguusmug:
Their magical battle or whatever that was was pretty cool and it was wise from the author to compare the paralyzing spell to men's strength although I do wonder if succubi would be stronger than the average woman, maybe we get a chance to see.

And remember mangadex users: If you don't like what you're seeing you can just stop reading and move on, in a manga about succubus relationships shit like this is bound to happen, won't be the last time.

I did notice that, but reminder that the only thing Emu reported was “my succubus friend fainted”, nothing in regards to what she was caught doing. Maybe Emu will testify in some way against her, but given how Emu came to her defense when talking with the ML, i highly doubt that
Clearly Emu lives in a culture that normalizes and excuses rape or attempted rape. Unfortunately, so do most of us in the real world.

Time will tell if the author is so steeped in rape culture that she legitimately believes this is just ok or if she plans to have this be a plot point later on. I could absolutely see a point of conflict later on being "this person assaulted me and you still defended them", causing Emu to question her assumptions about her own culture, and hopefully causes the audience to do the same. We'll see.

Lots to digest here.
I think Emu was a little bit selfish here, first couple things she say to her friend after he almost got raped were to show concern about how his opinion of her might change. If that's lack of maturity with her character or the author being a little bit out of touch is yet to be seen.
Yui thinking he might be to blame makes a lot of sense, sad that there's a lack of commentary on that part.
It's kinda clumsy, given he's a teenagers, but Yui's response is quite good: people are people first, their actions dictate who they are, not what they are capable of doing, even less so what they are born as.

Now, I wish we could take the topic of rape a little bit more seriously with more repercussions for Rinka and a better management of topics, we better remember that the main audience for this is actually young people, if you're going to add something as serious as this in the story you better develop it right and not use it to farm some ecchi scenes.

Yeah she does live in a culture that normalizes and excuses rape, the story does take place in Japan after all.

You can tell that her people's stereotypical baggage is weighing down on her even though she tries to be an upstanding citizen.
Also, there's a good chance that this friendship has been quite toxic and one-sided. As an odd one, she's more likely to cling to people who at least pretend to accept her quirks.
Perhaps the author will develop this further in another chapter, because it looks like it's time for some romance first.
Oh totes. She seems like a worse kind of "friend" but our fmc isn't very discerning at this point in her life so she is making excuses for her friend while visibly disturbed by what that friend just tried to do to her crush. Pretty fucked up stuff for a kid to be going through and guilty af cause all of this only happened because she is a Succubus. Something she was born into and didn't ask for.

This is probably about as deep as the author will likely go on this since the main thing here is, "don't hate me for my species cause I like you and that would be devastating cause I literally can't change that"

I think there's a pretty big difference between saying "not all succubi are bad" and "my friend who tried to rape you isn't a bad girl" though. Like if I caught one of my friends trying to rape someone I'm in love with (or not it doesn't really make a difference), I would beat the shit out of them, turn them in to the police, and never speak to them again. I certainly wouldn't go "oh they're totally the type to do this actually but they're not a bad person". But I guess this is a classic example of the rapist being a hot woman so it's not really considered rape by anyone involved for some reason.
Agreed, there is a huge difference. I think the kid is doing the best she can in the situation given her position in it and of course the depth the author wants to go to in addressing things.

Someone else said it but she is likely a shitty friend, who is as shown having a warped personality to want to hurt someone, a friend for fun. Maybe a pivotal point for our fmc will be acknowledging that Succubi can be scary but she can choose what kind of Succubus she wants to be.

Author kind of alluded to it with the "not all men" like yes, men have a history of actions but you're not scared of me for being a man cause you know my character.

Our culture? Mine too?

🤣 I feel like that was a contributing factor to why she was so torn up about it. Like, the ability to sleep paralysis someone so you can eat is a crazy ability that is likely a norm for Succubi...but is crazy in like any perspective.

She hit us with the 'succubi wil be succubi'
if nothing else it's realistic, plenty of cultures have behaviours that are incredibly toxic but are so utterly pervasive that they're just accepted as "it is what it is". In her mind succubus = predator and even if she herself tries to act differently that's just the 'nature' of her kind.

it could also be noted that reporting her friend as 'fainted' would probably be a lot better both for her and her friend than 'my friend assaulted a human and I knocked her out', that kind of thing would end up with a lengthy investigation and she herself may end up facing punishment. she's also likely in denial that her friend is a rapist, just a bit 'forceful'.

I think there's a non-zero chance that with the succubi association, just the call is loaded enough that what's happened is obvious, in a way or another.

She's also been asked to be taken "into custody", so there is gonna be something coming out of that.

Oh, wow, I'm honestly blown away that the author actually treated this somewhat seriously instead of resorting to the usual "it's just a misunderstanding" bullshit. I just hope this doesn't become the norm, with every other succubus trying to get a piece of Hayato just because Emu likes him.

Thanks for the chapter!
I'll withold my belief that author is taking this seriously when I see that other succubus have the book thrown at her. In a manner of speaking.

It's quite the uphill battle, specially coming from a type of media where all kinds of sexual misconducts are quite normalized as either a comedy or just use it as a plot device without thinking too much of it. There are more developements now with this succubus agency, let's see what happens.

Wow nothing makes me feel older than seeing the intense vitriolic moral panic over SA in a Succubus manga.
We are not having this conversation again, you are late. But you haven't paid too much attention if that's the conclusion you reach after reading some chapters of a manga that its background theme is cohabitation between 2 different species. Go reread.
