Damn this guy (and his mom) just can't get a break.. After all that shit of him reminiscing his mom while fighting, giving us readers the assumption her being dead (and because system didn't find her), and then she's alive again, and right after that, she's being severely(maybe even lethally) attacked...
My point being that after all that, it would be pretty sadistic of author-san to have the mother being killed here.
I think there's a limit on how much it's ok to torture the protagonist, since author is the god here, and we're just witnessing authors imagination.
