To be fair, most of humanity being forced to learn pastry making, it would revolutionize the gourmet world with the influx of new ideas. Not to mention how dating would work. Au contraire! According to one webcomic, every civilization EVER has invented cake. Which is surprisingly accurate.
And Africa does indeed have cakes. Did you know that Egyptian hieroglyphics are also known as the words of the gods? Did you know that one of the main basic letters is a cake? I am not kidding.

Yes, bread and cake are distinctly different hieroglyphs.

Ancient Egypt was the FIRST recorded civilization to invent cake.

And given that pretty much all of the western world's evolution can be traced to Ancient Egypt, I'm willing to say that the origin of all cakes comes from Africa as well.
