And this, my friends, is why this series is one of the best slow burns out there.

It's not due to stupid misunderstandings, it's not because of love triangle nonsense, and especially not because the characters are dense as lead oil.

Tis because Youyan really hurt Xiu to the point of almost no return. Now that she was given a second chance of life, she has to fix all of her mistakes in a way despite returning to a time where it did happen and the pain is still there, she has a chance to prove herself worthy of Xiu.

GOODNESS I LOVE THIS SERIES SOOOO MUCHH!!! TY FOR TRANSLATING!!! :glee:

Yeah there's no cheap drama. It's all earned. No sudden arranged marriages and no third party. Just the two of them. Internal obstacles rather than external. It's a great point that the choice of time travel was to send her to a moment after she's already made her mistakes. She doesn't get to erase the mistakes, just to make up for them. A much more compelling setup.

Haha the novel version of this scene was even more brutal. Ji Youyan took a long time to visit Jing Xiu in the hospital and at last Jing Xiu had to ask if Youyan wanted to break up, and when she did Youyan simply agreed to it, seeing herself as inferior and not realizing that Jing Xiu thought the same way.

"To me, you are a dream I yearn to hold yet fear to lose"

These kinds of super romantic lines always set my heart aflutter.

Even in the novel, you don't get the full story of YY not showing up in the hospital until you are a hearty way in. Let's just say there are two sides to every story and then there's the truth somewhere in between :)
