Ah the pain! I think this is a necessary stem for Youyan. She knows she had been neglectful and hurt Jing but it is still a different matter to experience it herself. It's just sad to see Youyan having the courage now, albeit a bit late, and Jing wavering.

I am excited to see these two happy together, someday.

I mean i do understand her reasoning of the root of the problem not being solved. Both of them loved each other back then and still now but that doesn't mean everyone else will accept them, right now we only saw positive comments but how will they deal with resistance.
And here’s what bothers me, the root problem is she never was a priority in youyan’s eyes, she has already writing her wrongs
Recognising the relationship publicly (at least the courtship)
Not making CPs for the press (literally whipped up a storm to get out of that)
Taking advantage of their relationship to get better deals (already turned down offers to defend her to the public)
Youyan is literally throwing everything to shit to show xiu IS what’s important now but ends up in the dog pen bc “people don’t change”. I understand being angry, but this just feels vindictive. Angry is telling her how many times xiu waited for the candles to burn out, vindictive is orchestrating stuff so youyan experiences it herself

Everyone saying this is bad writing or that Jing should obviously have forgiven Youyan by now would be complaining it was bad writing for Jing to have forgiven Youyan in the AU where we only see this from Jing's perspective and we had spent just as much time focusing on how Youyan previously disregarded/made this an unfair & unhappy relationship before this.

This is a romance story y'all. This is specifically a romance story about two exes getting back together. Let mistrust happen, that's like the whole point of the genre 💀

For me it's not that she thinks that way in general, but the impetus behind it. Literally a few pages before this, she's saying she can't wait to see Youyan, and then her sister talks some shit and she does a complete 180.

Hmmm, I guess pettiness is part of it, but Jing is also testing Ji's resolve to repent, is she committed to making things right? That she won't turn tail and bail on her again?
